A little confession from the nutritionist:
I don’t eat perfectly healthy and I will never try to. Some weekends you will find me sipping on a pumpkin spice latte, or hunting down the newest macaron flavour, or burying my face deep into a bag of movie-theatre popcorn.
What motivates me?
Years ago I based my food decisions on what tasted good but I found myself feeling sluggish and craving more unhealthy snacks. It took me a while to pin point what my body is lacking and providing my body with those nutrients changed the way I feel about food completely. Nourishing my body with the nutrient-packed foods allows me the freedom to enjoy ‘naughty treats’ when I decide to do so.
Making sure I have healthy options is even more important when I’m busy taking care of my clients and growing my business at the same time, planning ahead helps to fuel my body and brain with the functional nutrients that get me through the day.
Why mindful snacking is so important?
In my practice, I notice one HUGE obstacle that stops client from feeling lighter and more energetic is snacking. It could be not having the right type of snack to meet your nutrient needs (so you experience certain cravings) or it could be not paying attention to the portion size of your snacks.
How to start making healthy swaps?
It’s so important to treat yourself when switching to healthier alternatives. Your taste buds need time to adjust to the changes. I hope I can introduce some tasty options for you.
